Belgian Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt was born Jan. 23, 1910 (d. 1953). Through his relatively short career (from 1934 when he began playing with Stéphane Grappeli in Quintette du Hot Club de France till his retirement in 1951) Reinhardt innovated the style and technique of jazz guitar playing. Reinhardt also composed a number of standards such as “Minor Swing” and “Nuages.”
